VERIFIED PUBLIC SAFETY™

When public safety calls, you will know it is really them.

The Public Safety Registry places a verified agency name, official logo, and the reason for the call on your phone before you answer. Criminals impersonating police, fire, EMS, and 911 centers cannot.

THE PROGRAM

One registry. One authority. Verified calls.

The Coosada 911 Communications District operates three connected efforts that bring carrier-grade branded caller identification to government and public safety.

fact_check

Public Safety Registry

The vetted database of government and public safety agencies: their verified phone numbers, official names, logos, and approved call reasons. Only credentialed agencies are listed.

verified_user

Verified Public Safety™

The mark that appears on the call screen. When you see it, the caller's identity was verified in real time against the Registry before the call reached your phone.

account_balance

Public Safety Identity Authority

The governing body that vets credentials, approves registrations, issues security keys, and administers the real-time call verification system.

HOW IT WORKS

Built on Branded Calling ID™ from CTIA

Branded Calling ID (BCID™) is the wireless industry's standard for trusted caller identity, governed by CTIA. It uses STIR/SHAKEN call authentication to carry cryptographically signed Rich Call Data, including the verified name, logo, and call reason, from the originating network to the phone's screen. The same framework major banks and hospitals use to brand their calls now identifies your local police, fire, EMS, and 911 center.

block Spoofed calls are blocked. A call faking a registered number carries no authorized signature, so AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and their subsidiaries block it before your phone ever rings.
1

Register and Vet

An agency enrolls. Coosada 911 verifies its credentials, phone numbers, name, and logo before anything is approved and submitted to the telephone carriers.

2

Sign the Call

When the agency dials out, the call is cryptographically signed using security keys administered by the Identity Authority, carrying the verified identity within the call itself.

3

Carrier Verifies

The receiving carrier checks the signature against the Registry in real time. A spoofed number fails the check. No valid signature, no verified display.

4

You See the Truth

The agency's name, logo, reason for the call, and the Verified Public Safety™ mark appear on screen, on both iPhone and Android, before you answer.

OUR ROLE

The Authorized Partner for government and public safety

The Coosada 911 Communications District is the Authorized Partner through which government agencies, public safety agencies, and public safety entities access Branded Calling ID. The District administers the program end to end, so agencies receive verified calling without building any of it themselves.

Hosted registry systems

The District hosts and operates the systems that manage agency information, images, and the registry databases the carriers rely on.

encrypted

Real-time call verification and security keys

The District administers the call verification system and the cryptographic keys required to verify legitimate calls in real time, preventing spoofing.

Program administration and enforcement

Registrations are reviewed, maintained, and revoked when necessary, so the Verified Public Safety™ mark keeps its meaning.

STOPPING SCAMS

Putting a stop to public safety impersonation

Criminals spoof government and police phone numbers to frighten people, especially the elderly and vulnerable, into sending money or sharing personal information. Because every verified call is cryptographically signed and checked in real time, a bad actor cannot make their call display an agency's name, logo, or the Verified Public Safety™ mark.

If someone attempts to spoof a call from a number registered with the Public Safety Registry, the phone carriers, including AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, and their subsidiaries, will block the call because it does not carry the authorized cryptographic signature needed to authenticate it. The scam is stopped immediately, and communications from your agency are secured to legitimate calls only.

WHAT THE PUBLIC SHOULD KNOW
  • A verified call shows the agency's name, official logo, and reason for the call before you answer.
  • Verification happens inside the phone network. There is nothing to install and nothing to sign up for.
  • !A caller claiming to be public safety without verification, and demanding money, gift cards, or personal information, should be treated as a scam. Hang up and call the agency directly.
FOR AGENCIES

Enroll your agency in the Public Safety Registry

Police, fire, EMS, 911 districts, and other government and public safety entities may apply, including private public safety providers operating under a governmental contract, such as private EMS. Coosada 911 verifies your credentials and numbers, registers your identity with the carriers, and manages the program on your behalf.

phone_in_talkAny phone, any line

Registered agencies can sign any landline, cellular, or SIP phone call. Every form of phone communication tied to your agency can be secured, including agency-issued cell phones.

person_checkCaller name and department

Display can include the caller's name or department alongside your seal. A call from Coosada City Hall can show "City Clerk" or "Court Magistrate," and an investigator's city cell phone can display "Coosada Police, Detective Smith" with the agency seal for visual verification.
